Support for Sustainable Society (Saptrishi) started its developmental activities since 1993. It started its grassroot activites from Bano block of Simdega district. During the course the organisation performed several developmental activities which can be llisted as follows:
1. COMMUNITY ORGANISATION & ACTION
- Formation & Strengthening of Stakeholders – Mahila Mandals, Gram Sabha, Youth Groups, Change Makers, User Groups etc.
- Community Performance and Celebrations like Prem Bhoj, Paryawaran Parab, International Women Day, International Indigenous Day, Independent Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Children’s day, Birsa Jayanti, Republic day, 18th March, Gram Sabha Day etc.
- Protection of forests from illegal felling and haphazard fires
- Prohibition on Sale of Alcohol and Rice Bear in village markets
2. SOCIO ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
- Regular Capacity Building Trainings to stakeholders
- Regular Skill training and awareness camps at field level
- Income Generating Training and Activities of Groups such as Tailoring & Embroidery, Woollen Shawl, Chalk Making, Vermi Compost Making

- Distribution of solar lantern, home light systems and power pack

- Demonstration of bio-dynamic and environment friendly agriculture viz., vermi compost, micro drip irrigation, organic pesticides
- Demonstration and introduction of improved poultry, duck, goat & pig
- Scientific lac cultivation, collection and processing
- Fruits and vegetable processing such as mango, pickles, jackfruits and mahua flower processing, tuti fruity
- Low cost housing
- Low cost livestock’s sheds
- Breed upgradation of livestock mainly poultry, duck, goat and pig
